The first specimen was lot 12109 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 100 Pesos, 1976. NGC MS-64. Mintage of only 2900 pieces." The second specimen was lot 413 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[2] noted, "CHILE. 100 Pesos, 1976. NGC MS-64. Commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the New Government." In 1976, the Pinochet regime congratulated itself on its third anniversary by issuing a series of commemoratives ranging from a copper-nickel five pesos (KM 209) to a gold five hundred pesos (KM 214) weighing nearly three ounces. The regime survived by massacring its enemies in large numbers.

Recorded mintage: 2,900 plus 100 proofs.
