The specimen shown is a type struck in Chile 1960-70. It was the only issue of this subdivision of the escudo and is worthless in all grades. The escudo superseded the peso in 1960, with one escudo = 1000 pesos.

Recorded mintage: 1,915,000.

Specification: 8.1 g, aluminum-bronze, 27.17 mm diameter.
