The specimen shown is a type struck in Chile 1924-27. It was the last Chilean peso to contain silver. The succeeding billon type (KM 174), issued 1932, was 6 g, 0.400 fine silver. Numerous varieties exist for the 1925 issue but none are noted for 1924. Oscar Roty's defiant condor, first used in 1895, appeared on virtually all Chilean silver and copper-nickel coins until 1940.
