The specimen shown is a one year type struck in Chile. It is the same weight and fineness as the old forty centavos coins struck in 1907-08. Oscar Roty's defiant condor, first used in 1895, appeared on virtually all Chilean silver and copper-nickel coins until 1940.
Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.
Specification: 6 g, 0.400 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW, 26 mm diameter, designed by Oscar Roty.
