Chile 1932 peso

The specimen shown is a one year type struck in Chile. It is the same weight and fineness as the old forty centavos coins struck in 1907-08. It is the last silver coin struck for circulation in Chile; the 1933 peso is copper-nickel. The one peso coin of 1927 is 9 grams, 0.500 fine silver. Oscar Roty's defiant condor, first used in 1895, appeared on virtually all Chilean silver and copper-nickel coins until 1940.
