This type was struck in Chile 1908-09 and 1919-20. Altho the ten centavos or one décimo was issued extensively in the nineteenth century, inflation eroded its value, forcing the mint to shrink and debase the coin. The denomination was converted to copper-nickel in 1920, abandoning silver.
Recorded mintage: 4,149,000 including 1908/1 and 1908/9 overdates.
Specification: 1.5 g, 0.400 fine silver, 17 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 156.2a.
