Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 23301

This specimen was lot 23301 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 100 Dollars, 2007. BRILLIANT PROOF. "Toward a New Confederation", commemorative of the process of Canadian industrialization. An attractive Proof with mirrored fields and frosty devices. Sold with certificate of authenticity #3282/5000." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this one honoring the 140th anniversary of the Confederation. Five thousand were authorized but not all sold.

Specification: 12 g, 0.583 fine gold, 27 mm diameter, 0.225 troy oz AGW.
