Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 23300

This specimen was lot 23300 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $2,220. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 300 Dollars, 2006. BRILLIANT PROOF. A brilliant proof with a snowflake design inla[i]d with six Swarovski crystals. Sold with original display case and certificate of authenticity #0893." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this one with Swarovski crystals glued on.

Recorded mintage: 998.

Specification: 60 g, 0.583 fine gold, 50 mm diameter, 1.125 troy oz AGW.
