This specimen was lot 74620 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 25 Cents, 1955. Ottawa Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS PROOFLIKE-66. Silky and quite reflective. From the Barbaro Acres Collection." This type, struck at Ottawa 1953-64, is common in all grades. The use of chrome plated dies gave a polished appearance to the coins which in turn magnified the detractive effects of bagmarks.
Recorded mintage: 9,552,505.
Specification: 5.83 g, 0.800 fine silver, .150 troy oz ASW, 23.5 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Mary Gillick and G. E. Kruger-Gray.
