This specimen was lot 23492 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $4,112.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI Specimen Dollar 1949, SP66 PCGS, mirror surfaces with a light frost to the bust, rare in this designation. Newfoundland commemorative featuring a clipper ship in full sail." This commemorative was saved in large numbers and is today common tho the specimen finish shown here is rare.

Recorded mintage: 672,218.

Specification: 0.800 fine silver, .600 troy oz ASW, designed by T. H. Paget and Thos. Shingles.
