This specimen was lot 23477 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Edward VII Specimen 50 Cents 1908, Specimen NGC (surface hairlines), razor sharp details with light silvery-gray matte patina, quite attractive and very scarce." This type is notoriously difficult to find in nice condition despite being minted in respectable numbers 1902-10. This date is scarce above Fine.
