This specimen was lot 70186 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Cents, 1898. London Mint. Victoria. NGC VF-30. Moderate gray toned with lighter raised surfaces. A perfect example for the grade." This type is notoriously difficult to find in nice condition despite being minted in respectable numbers 1870-1901. This date is scarce above Fine.
Recorded mintage: 100,000, a better date.
Specification: 11.66 g, 0.925 fine silver, .345 troy oz ASW.
