This specimen was lot 13085 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Cents, 1894. PCGS VF-35 Secure Holder. Key date to series. Toned." This type is notoriously difficult to find in nice condition despite being minted in respectable numbers 1870-1901. This date is the key for the type.

Specification: 11.62 g, 0.925 fine silver, .345 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
