This specimen was lot 33649 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada: Victoria Cent 1898-H MS65 Red and Brown NGC, Heaton mint. A scarlet beauty, with a mesmerizing rolling luster, silken surfaces, and captivati[ng] nimbus tones." This type was struck 1870-1901 in large quantities and is readily available in grades up to brown Uncirculated. The 1898-H is priced about triple the commonest date (1900-H) but is not rare.
