This specimen was lot 30184 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 10 Cents, 1898. NGC MS-65. Eight at this grade, with three certified finer at NGC and PCGS. The portrait is a demonstration of sculptural beauty, essentially flawless with such perfect surfaces it is difficult to look away. The reverse has a few marks in the fields, but the magnificent condition of the obverse carries the day. Bright and lustrous with just a hint of tone." The type was struck 1858 and 1870-1901 and is fairly common in grades up to Very Fine after which the price ascends rapidly.

Recorded mintage: 720,000 (a common date).

Specification: 2.32 g, 0.925 fine silver, .069 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
