This specimen was lot 24112 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,116.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 50 Cents 1872-H Inverted A, VF30 PCGS, medium gray patina, very scarce variety with the V in VICTORIA punched with an inverted A." This type is notoriously difficult to find in nice condition despite being minted in respectable numbers 1870-1901. This date is scarce above Fine with the "A for V" variety priced about double the normal type.

Recorded mintage: 80,000.

Specification: 11.66 g, 0.925 fine silver, .300 troy oz ASW.
