This specimen was lot 20112 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARGENTINA. Buenos Aires. 20 Decimos, 1830. PCGS MS-63 Red Brown Gold Shield. A nice example for the type exhibiting a good strike and a complementary combination of mottled original mint red with milk chocolate color that displays blue and purple iridescent highlights." This is the most available date of a type struck 1827 and 1830-31. Some of the Buenos Aires copper issues were made in Britain but this one and the accompanying 10 decimos (KM 4) appear to be local.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper, 16-28 g, 31-36 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-5.
