This specimen was lot 3580 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,150 (about US$1,550 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Wilhelm, 1831-1884. 10 Taler 1854, B. GOLD. Sehr schön +. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, William I, 1831-84, ten thaler of 1854. Very fine or better.)"
This type of 1853-57 is not rare but is expensive. It was equal to the Prussian doppelter friedrichs d'or (Fr-2431).
