This specimen was lot 73518 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 12 Mariengroschen (1/3 Taler), 1721-C. Zellerfeld Mint. August Wilhelm. PCGS AU-55. The surfaces of this coin are a uniform light argent warmed by a thin layer of champagne throughout. The Wild Man is slightly softly rendered, and one weak area is noted at two o'clock on the obverse, but otherwise well and evenly struck. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck for August Wilhelm 1714-31. Twelve mariengroschen made one-third of a thaler or half a gulden.
