Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 55504

This specimen was lot 55504 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. Taler, 1707-RB. Zellerfeld Mint. Anton Ulrich. Extremely Fine Details -- Scratched. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Ex. Dr. Busso Peus Nachfolger Auction 337, Lot 1301." Anton Ulrich had been co-ruler of the duchy with his older brother Rudolf August from 1685 until Rudolf August's death in 1704, whereupon Anton Ulrich ruled alone until 1714. This was the only thaler struck in 1707.
