Künker sale 354, lot 5501

This specimen was lot 5501 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,227 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Rudolf August und Anton Ulrich, 1685-1704. Reichstaler 1700, Goslar oder Zellerfeld. Eintrachtstaler. Prachtvolle Patina, vorzüglich +. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Slg. Virgil M. Brand, Teil 1, Auktion Leu 46, Zürich 1988, Nr. 881. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Rudolf August and Anton Ulrich, 1685-1704, "unity" thaler of 1700, Goslar or Zellerfeld mint. Outstanding patina, extremely fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1688-1703 in Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and is among the more common thalers of the period. Confusingly, the post-1700 issues are catalogued as Dav-2111.
