This specimen was lot 622 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $558.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Taler, 1700-RB. Rudolf August & Anton Ulrich, Joint Rulers (1685-1704). NGC EF-45. Sharply struck with virtually no doubling. Old envelope tone, some faint contact marks in field. Sharply struck and attractive." This type of 1700 is common but the "wild man" design is always popular.
