Künker Auction 426, lot 3546

This specimen was lot 3546 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €310 (about US$439 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM August der Jüngere, 1635-1666. Reichstaler 1647, Zellerfeld. Feine Patina, sehr schön +. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Augustus the Younger, 1635-66, thaler of 1647, Zellerfeld mint. Fine patina, very fine or better.)"

This type of 1639-48 is not listed as rare. For some reason, some examples lack the "HS" initials found on this issue. The photo in the SCWC shows Dav-6347, not this coin.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 29 g, 0.875 fine silver, 42 mm diameter, this specimen 28,63 g.

Catalog reference: KM 393.2, Dav-6338; Welter 819.
