This specimen was lot 55422 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Wolfenbuttel. Taler, 1606. Goslar Mint. Heinrich Julius. PCGS AU-53." This "wild man" thaler was struck 1600-13 and is the most common thaler of this state for the first half of the seventeenth century. It was struck at Goslar and Zellerfeld.
