Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle 1632-HS thaler Dav-6475
This specimen was lot 74539 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $463.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Celle. Taler, 1632-HS. Clausthal Mint. Christian. PCGS EF-45. From the Greyhound Collection." This type was struck 1629-33 and is somewhat available. Another thaler of 1632, Dav-6657, marking the death of his brother, is rare. The duke himself died the next year, killed in a battle of the Thirty Years War. Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle lapsed in 1705 on the death of the last duke and was merged with Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover.
