Brunswick-Harburg 1624 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 599 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM Wilhelm, 1603-1642. 1/2 Reichstaler 1624, Moisburg. Von großer Seltenheit. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Harburg, William, 1603-42, half thaler of 1624, Moisburg mint. Very rare, edge cracks, very fine.)"
Duke Wilhelm was the last ruler of Brunswick-Harburg which reverted to Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle on his death. This denomination is noted for 1620-30. It has a very high catalog value for an obscure German minor.
