Brunswick-Blankenburg 1716-HCH thaler Dav-2133
This specimen was lot 565 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,561 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM Ludwig Rudolf, 1731-1735, seit 1714 in Blankenburg. Reichstaler 1716, Braunschweig. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Blankenburg, Louis Rudolf, 1731-35, thaler of 1716, Brunswick mint. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This scarce type is listed for Brunswick-Blankenburg for 1715-27. The duke succeeded to Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel in 1731 and merged the two duchies, ending the -Blankenburg series.
