This specimen was lot 1106 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $499. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 2,000 Reis, 1900. 400th Anniversary of Discovery commemorative. Toned with peripheral highlights. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder." This commemorative, issued with a silver 400, 1000 and 4000 réis (KM 502) was the last full weight crown from Brazil. The next issue (KM 506) was only 20 grams.
