Shown is a silver five hundred réis of the United States of Brazil, struck 1889 only. It must have been saved as it is abundant today despite being minted one year only. The bust of liberty used here also appeared on the gold coinage and was used thereon until 1922.
Recorded mintage: 4,541,000.
Specification: 6.375 g, 0.917 fine silver.
