This specimen was lot 23098 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II gold 10000 Reis 1833, AU Details - Surface Hairlines NGC. Minimally marked for the grade with surfaces that are a tad bright from a past light cleaning. The first year of issue for this 'Child Head' type." A 6400 réis (KM 387) and 4,000 réis (KM 386) also exist. This type was struck 1833-40 and tho denominated 10,000 réis, was the same size and weight as the previous 6400 réis. In 1849, the 10000 réis was lowered to 8.96 g, where it remained until 1922.
