This silver 160 réis was minted at the Bahia mint in Brazil during 1695-97, among its first issues. This coin would have traded in the 18th century as one-sixth of a Spanish dollar. The specimen was lot 20369 in Heritage sale 3009 (Chicago, April 2010), where it sold for $517.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II 160 Reis 1697, VG. Rare date."
