This silver 160 réis was issued in Brazil at the Rio mint 1699-1700. The specimen was lot 23152 in Heritage sale 3012 (New York, January 2011), where it sold for $4,025. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II of Portugal 160 Reis 1700, struck at Rio de Janeiro without mintmark, toned VF-XF, the obverse surfaces are somewhat rough, probably due to die deterioration. Rare issue." This date is rare; the 1699 is listed as quite a bit more available.
