This specimen was part of lot 23305 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Collection of Brazil Silver 80 Reis, a most useful group dating from 1696-1818 and including several scarce varieties. Grades are generally F-VF with a few better and a couple with damage." This type was struck 1695-98 and is the first coin of this denomination struck for Brazil. It is likely scarcer than catalog values indicate.
