This specimen was lot 13135 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $7,638. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brandenburg. 2 Taler, 1627. NGC VF-20. Georg Wilhelm (1619-40). VERY RARE." This rare type is priced three times higher than the single thaler (Dav-6141). The SCWC lists only 1629, 1630 and 1635. The elector of Brandenburg would not be promoted to king of Prussia until 1701.
