Jean Elsen sale 157, lot 628

This specimen was lot 628 in Jean Elsen sale 157 (Brussels, December 2023), where it sold for €300 (about US$387 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Charles II (1665-1700), AR ducaton, 1670, Anvers. Premier type. D/ B. enfantin à d. R/ Ecu couronné, tenu par deux lions. En dessous, le bijou de la Toison d'or. Nettoyé. presque Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Charles II, 1665-1700, silver ducaton of 1670, Antwerp mint, first type. Obverse: infant bust to right; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions; below, the jewels of the Golden Fleece. Cleaned, about Very Fine.)"

This type is listed for Antwerp (shown here) and Brussels (angel face mintmark, Dav-4475) for 1665-76. Similar ducatons were struck in Flanders.
