Brabant 1668(a) ducaton Dav-4475
This specimen was lot 606 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €140 (about US$186 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Charles II (1665-1700), AR ducaton, 1668, Bruxelles. Premier type. D/ B. enfantin à d. R/ Ecu couronné, tenu par deux lions, orné du bijou de la Toison d'or. Beau à Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Charles II, 1665-1700, silver ducaton of 1668, Brussels mint, first type. Obverse: infant bust to right; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, adorned by the jewels of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Fine - Very Fine.)"
The regular type, issued 1666-80 from Antwerp (Dav-4475) and Brussels (shown here), is scarce but not rare. The other provinces issued this type, including Flanders (Dav-4479) and Luxembourg.
