Sincona sale 23, lot 2034

This specimen was lot 2034 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$189 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Brabant, Herzogtum, Charles II. 1665-1700 Dukaton 1666. Brüssel. Sehr schön. (duchy of Brabant, Charles II (1665-1700), ducaton of 1666, very fine.)"

The regular type, issued 1666-80 from Antwerp and Brussels (shown here), is scarce but not rare. The other provinces issued this type, including Flanders, Tournai and Luxembourg.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 32.48 g, 0.944 fine silver; this specimen is 32.63 g.
