This specimen was lot 24774 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brabant. Felipe II Ecu 1572 Antwerp, AU58 NGC, a most attractive example of this coinage for the occupation of the Low Countries featuring a bust of the Spanish King. The surfaces exhibit an appealing sheen and the details are nicely struck. Scarce type in this quality." Davenport records this type from Antwerp (shown here) and Maastricht for 1572-85. It is a revival of a type originally struck 1557-66.
