Brabant 1570(h) 1/2 ecu
The first specimen was lot 396 in Áureo y Calicó sale 345 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €140 (about US$185 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1570. Felipe II. Amberes. 1/2 escudo borgoña. Ex Colección Rocaberti, Áureo 19/05/1992, nº 211. Ex Colección Balsach. MBC/MBC+. (duchy of Brabant, Philip II, half écu of Burgundy, Antwerp mint. Very fine or better.)"
This coin was also a half rijksdaalder. This specimen is unusually free of the planchet faults and striking defects normally seen on this type. This scarce type was also struck in Bruges for Flanders. That coin has the obverse legend, "PHS·D:G·HISP·Z·REX·COMES·FLAN·".
