This specimen was lot 44323 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 8 Scudos, 1844-PTS R. Potosi Mint. PCGS AU-55. Exceptional quality for this SCARCE date and assayer; this example is unsurpassed on either the NGC or PCGS census. The coin emanates a rich golden hue with only faint marks or evidence of wear upon the high points. An excellent representative well-deserving of a premium bid." This type was struck 1841-47 and is not rare but usually found impaired. Assayers LR and R are reported for 1844.
