This specimen was lot 53793 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Cob 8 Reales, 1701-P F. Potosi Mint. Charles II. NGC VF-20. Posthumous issue struck in the first year of the reign of Philip V." Altho Charles II died unmourned in 1700, the transition to the new king Philip V did not occur at the Potosí mint until 1701, the news travelling slowly in those days. Cobs were struck in the names of both king in 1701 and even into 1702.
