This specimen was lot 45020 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Cob Real, 1681-P V. Potosi Mint. Charles II. PCGS VF-30." This type, struck 1667-1701, is probably the most common one real cob. Assayer Ergueta introduced the new "pillars and waves" design which would show the date and assayer's initials on even the worst strike. In 1667, the design was modified to replace the deceased Philip IV with the degenerate Charles II and would be struck without change until 1700. Assayer V operated 1679-84.
