Sincona sale 59, lot 3063

This specimen was lot 3063 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$303 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Bern | Stadt und Kanton, 10 Kreuzer 1778, Bern. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, ten kreuzer of 1778, Bern mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1759, 1764-65, 1776-78, 1787, 1790 and is fairly common. Ten kreuzer = 2½ batzen = 1/16 of a thaler.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver or billon, this specimen 2.19 g.
