This specimen was lot 5076 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$445 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Bern | Stadt, Batzen 1776. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. FDC. (city of Bern, batzen of 1776. Very rare in this condition, Uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1717, 1754, 1765-78, 1784 and 1789-98. The 1776 is common and is accompanied by a half batzen. The climbing bear is the badge of Bern, Switzerland. At the time, four kreuzer = one batzen and forty batzen = one thaler.
