This specimen was lot 4161 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, 8 Dukaten o. J. (um 1775), Bern. Gekröntes, geschwungenes Berner Wappen auf einer reich verzierten Kartusche. Umschrift "MON . REIP . BERNENSIS". Rv. Reich verzierte Kartusche mit "BENE: DICTUS SIT IEHOVA DEUS" in vier Zeilen. Äusserst selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Leichte Graffiti. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, undated eight ducats, circa 1775, Bern mint. Obverse: crowned ornate city arms in a cartouche; reverse: four line inscription in a cartouche. Extremely rare, About Uncirculated, Minor graffiti.)"
The climbing bear is the badge of Bern, Switzerland. This issue was accompanied by KM 135 (12 ducat), KM 134 (10 ducat), KM 130 (7 ducat), KM 129 (6 ducat), KM 128 (4 ducat) and KM 126 (ducat). The very similar KM 131 has a slightly different cartouche on the reverse.
