Sincona sale 95, lot 4151

This specimen was lot 4151 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$139 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Kreuzer 1764, Bern. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, twenty kreuzer of 1764, Bern mint. About Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1758-59, 1764, 1776-77 and 1787 and was accompanied by a ten kreuzer and a quarter thaler. In Germany, the convention thaler was 120 kreuzer; in Switzerland, the thaler was 160 kreuzer, making this coin five batzen or one-eighth thaler.
