Sincona sale 91, lot 3149

This specimen was lot 3149 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$330 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Vierteltaler (10 Batzen) 1759, Bern. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, quarter thaler or ten batzen of 1759, Bern mint. Good extremely fine.)"

This type is listed for 1757-60 and 1773-74 and is not rare tho it is not cheap. In Germany, the convention thaler was 120 kreuzer; in Switzerland, the thaler was 160 kreuzer.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.9 g, silver, 30 mm diameter, this specimen 8.20 g.
