This specimen was lot 38743 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Bengal Presidency. 1/2 Rupee, Year 19 (1819-29). Murshidabad Mint. Shah Alam II. PCGS MS-63." This type was struck with a frozen date. While the Mughal Empire lasted, the British in Bengal were careful to strike coinage in the emperor's name. Unlike the earlier "dump" coinage, this issue was milled.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.09-6.21 g, silver, 23.8-24.0 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-105; Stevens-6.15; Prid-173.
