Jean Elsen sale 147, lot 1327

This specimen was lot 1327 in Jean Elsen sale 147 (Brussels, June 2021), where it sold for €110 (about US$161 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold II (1865-1909), AR 50 centimes, 1866. Belle patine. Superbe. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold II, 1865-1909, silver fifty centimes of 1866. Nice patina, Extremely Fine.)"

This is the most common date of a type struck 1866-68, 1881, 1886, 1898-99. For the later dates, Dutch legends (KM 27) were used as well.

Recorded mintage: 6,806,000.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.835 fine silver, .067 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
