Jean Elsen sale 142, lot 1025

This specimen was lot 1025 in Jean Elsen sale 142 (Brussels, September 2019), where it sold for €130 (about US$169 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 2 centimes, 1844. BRAEMT F. avec point. Superbe. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper two centimes of 1844, engraver's name with dot. Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck 1833-65 in large quantities but most dates before 1845 are scarce in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 1,802,000 including KM 4.4 (without dot), a better date.

Specification: copper, 3.6 g.
