Künker sale 406, lot 4997

This specimen was lot 4997 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,706 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, BAYERN, Otto II. 1886-1913. 10 Mark 1890. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Bavaria, Otto II, 1886-1913, ten mark of 1890. Cabinet example, about uncirculated.)"

This type of 1890-1900 is common. The ten mark is quite a bit more affordable than the twenty mark. King Otto ruled under a regency for his entire reign.

Recorded mintage: 421,565 plus proofs.

Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold.
